Installation Procedure
- Position the steering column in the vehicle.
- Hand start the steering column pivot bolt.
- Hand start the steering column mounting bolts.
- Tighten the steering column bolts using the following order:
Tighten:
- Tighten the steering column pivot bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the right steering column mounting bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the left steering column mounting bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- If installing a new intermediate steering shaft then transfer the scribed marks.
- Align the scribed marks on the intermediate steering shaft to the scribed marks on the steering column shaft.
- Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column shaft.
- Install a new intermediate steering shaft bolt at the steering column.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
- Connect all electrical connectors as needed.
- Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement .
- Install the driver knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement .
NOTE:
If replacing the steering column then transfer any scribed marks from the old component to the new one.

Failure to transfer the scribed marks may result in an off-center steering wheel.
