Circuit/System Testing

NOTE:

Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
The seat belt buckle switch is not serviced separately. The seat belt buckle with the seat belt buckle switch must be serviced as a complete unit.
When removing connectors, inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector:
- The SDM
- The seat belt buckle switch wiring harness connector
- The seat belt buckle switch
- The SDM wiring harness connector

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the seat belt switch.
Test for less than 1.0 Ω between low reference terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than specified range, test the low reference circuit for open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
Ignition ON, with the passenger seat belt unbuckled, verify the scan tool Passenger Seat Belt Switch parameter displays Unbuckled.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the low reference circuit terminal 2. Verify the scan tool Passenger Seat Belt Switch parameter displays Buckled.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the SDM.
If the circuits test normal, replace the seat belt switch.
