Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Open the junction block terminal cover.
- Remove the junction block terminal nut (1).
- Remove the positive/negative battery cable terminal (2) from the junction block terminal stud.
- Remove the positive/negative ground nut (3) from the tie bar stud.
- Remove the positive/negative ground terminal (4) from the tie bar stud.
- Remove the positive/negative battery cable clip (6) from the engine control module (ECM)/transaxle control module (TCM) bracket.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

- If equipped with a automatic transaxle, perform the following steps, remove the positive/negative battery cable ground nut (2).
- Remove the positive/negative cable ground terminal (1) from the transaxle stud.
- Remove the starter solenoid nut (4).
- Remove the positive/negative battery cable (3) from the starter.

- If equipped with a manual transaxle, perform the following steps, remove the positive/negative battery cable ground nut (1).
- Remove the positive/negative cable ground terminal (2) from the transaxle stud.
- Remove the starter solenoid nut (4).
- Remove the positive/negative battery cable (3) from the starter.
