Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    If installing a replacement front spring, check that the front spring is the correct type for the suspension system fitted to the vehicle. Identification of the front spring fitted to a particular vehicle can be achieved by cross-referencing the two digit code provided on the production identification tag (1) with the data in Fastener Tightening Specifications . Installing the incorrect front spring may adversely affect the wheel alignment and/or the ride and handling characteristics of the vehicle.

  1. Make sure that all components have been cleaned and inspected.
  2. Install the approved spring compressor (3) onto the front spring (2).
  3. Compress the front spring (2).
  4. Install the front spring (2) to the front suspension strut (4).

    NOTE:

    The front spring insulator (2) and front spring upper seat (1) have a step which locates on to the straight projecting end of the front spring (4). The step must be correctly orientated in relation to the front spring (4).

  6. Install the front spring insulator (2) and front spring upper seat (1).
  7. NOTE:

    When installing the front spring (4) the correct alignment of the front spring (4) with the front suspension strut unit (3) requires the mark on the front spring seat (1) to be 180" to the clevis on the front suspension strut (3).

  8. Position the NEW front spring (4) and front spring upper seat (1) on the front suspension strut (3).
  9. Install the NEW upper front suspension strut shield strap (5) securing the front suspension strut shield to the front spring upper seat (1).
  10. Install the front suspension strut support bearing and front suspension strut support mount retainer. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, or Spring Replacement .
  11. Install the front suspension strut. Refer to Strut Assembly Removal and Installation .
  12. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Remove the safety stands.
  14. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
