Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

    WARNING:

    Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the front suspension strut. Refer to Strut Assembly Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the front suspension strut support bearing and mount. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, or Spring Replacement .

  6. Remove the upper front suspension strut shield strap (6).

    Discard the upper front suspension strut shield strap (6).

  7. Remove the front spring upper seat (1) and front spring insulator (2).
  8. Remove the front spring (5) from the front suspension strut (4) and release the approved spring compressor (3).
  9. Inspect all parts for wear and damage, replace any damaged or worn components.
  10. Discard the front spring (5).
