Installation Procedure

- Retaining Ring and Propeller Shaft - Install a NEW retaining ring.
- Prior to installation verify the propeller shaft bearing support shim (1) is placed properly on the propeller shaft bearing support bracket (2).
- Install the propeller shaft (2) and hand tighten the four propeller shaft bearing suport bolts (1).
- Propeller Shaft to Transfer Case Assembly - Install
- Align the reference mark between the propeller shaft flange and the differential carrier flange.
- Propeller Shaft to Differential Carrier Assembly - Install
- Apply threadlocker to the propeller shaft flange bolts. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Install the six propeller shaft flange bolts and the three washers. Tighten 30 N.m (22 lb ft)
- Propeller Shaft Bearing Support Bolt - Tighten 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
- Install the evaporator emission canister. Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement (NT7, NU5)
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
Walk on the retaining ring to avoid distortion.
NOTE:
Orientation and placement of the propeller shaft bearing support shim is important. The clip must have the shim between the propeller shaft bearing support bracket and the body, not between the bracket and the attachment bolt head.
