Installation Procedure

  1. Plug the cooler end of the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose.
  2. Position the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose on the front frame.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the bracket to the front frame with the bolt and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  6. Remove the cap from the power steering fluid reservoir (1) inlet port. Remove the plug from the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose (2). Connect the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose to the power steering fluid reservoir.

  8. Remove the plug from the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose (3). When fluid starts to flow from the hose, cap the hose with your thumb.
  9. Remove the cap from the power steering fluid cooler outlet port (1) and quickly connect the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose to the power steering fluid cooler outlet port.
  10. Remove the drain pans.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  13. Remove the cover from either the air conditioning compressor or the generator, as applicable.
  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement , for the V6 engine or to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LSA) , Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (L99 or LS3) for the V8 engine.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
