Installation Procedure

  1. Cap the power steering gear end of the power steering gear inlet hose.
  2. Position the power steering gear inlet hose on the front frame.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the 2 bolts to the 2 brackets and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  6. Remove the cap from the power steering gear inlet hose (2). Ensure the O-ring seal is on the hose and is in good condition.
  7. Remove the plug from the power steering pump outlet port and quickly connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  9. Remove the cap from the power steering gear inlet hose (2). When fluid starts to flow from the hose, cap the hose with your finger. Ensure the O-ring seal is on the hose and is in good condition.
  10. Remove the plug from the steering gear (1). Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear. Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
  11. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  12. Remove the cover from either the air conditioning compressor or the generator, as applicable.
  13. Remove the drain pans.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement , for the V6 engine or to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LSA) , Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (L99 or LS3) for the V8 engine.
  16. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
