Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. Fastener Tightening Specifications: Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
Preliminary Procedures Disable the supplementary inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 . Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement . Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement (Manual Tilt) .
1	Connectors, Coil to Steering Column Harness. Tip: Remove the wire harness straps from the steering wheel column wire harness.
2	Ring, Retaining (Qty: 1) Tip: When installing the retaining ring 1, ensure that the retaining ring is firmly seated in the groove 2 on the steering column shaft.
3	Coil, SIR NOTE: The new SIR coil assembly will be centered. Improper alignment of the SIR coil assembly may damage the unit, causing an inflatable restraint malfunction. Tip: Ensure that the SIR coil is centered before removing it. When installing the SIR coil, ensure that the turn signal cancel cam assembly and the SIR coil are aligned.
