Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the upper air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove both headlamps. Refer to Headlamp Replacement (Impala) .
  4. Remove the fascia grille support bolts, 8 total. DO NOT remove the bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement .
  5. Remove the retainers from fascia to grille support, 4 total.
  6. Pull the grille support forward to gain clearance to the sensors.
1 Inflatable Front End Sensor Mounting Bolts (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  11 N.m (97 lb in)
