Removal Procedure
- Place drain pans under the vehicle.
- Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
- Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Right) , Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Left) .
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) from the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3).
- On the right side of the frame, disconnect the wire harness retainers and position the wire harness out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe.
- On the right side of the frame, disconnect the 2 retainers and the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the frame.
- Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (2) from the lower power steering fluid reservoir, which is on the power steering pump (1).
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement .
- Position the power steering gear inlet hose out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe on the steering gear.
- Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the steering gear.
- Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe O-ring seal (2).
Discard the seal.
- Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the vehicle.
