Removal Procedure

  1. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Right) , Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Left) .

  7. Loosen the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) from the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3).
  8. On the right side of the frame, disconnect the wire harness retainers and position the wire harness out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe.

  10. On the right side of the frame, disconnect the 2 retainers and the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the frame.

  12. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (2) from the lower power steering fluid reservoir, which is on the power steering pump (1).
  13. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  14. Position the power steering gear inlet hose out of the way in order to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe on the steering gear.

  16. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the steering gear.
  17. Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe O-ring seal (2).

    Discard the seal.

  19. Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1) from the vehicle.
