Removal Procedure
- Place drain pans under the vehicle.
- Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley only. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement .
- Remove the steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal (3).
Discard the seal.
- Disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (5) from the power steering pump (2).
- Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir hose (1) from the power steering pump.
- Remove the bolt (1) from the left side of the power steering pump (2).
- Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2) from the right side of the power steering pump (3).
- Remove the power steering pump (2) through the right wheel opening.
- Transfer components as necessary.
NOTE:
The right side power steering pump bolts go through the holes in the right side of the bracket and fasten to the holes in the pump.
