Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation tube. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the:
    1. Evaporative emission purge valve
    2. Fuel injectors
    3. Manifold absolute pressure sensor
  3. Place a collecting basin underneath.
    4. WARNING:

    Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  4. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  5. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe from the fuel rail. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Install CH-807  plug to the fuel feed pipe.

  7. Remove the 2 multiport fuel injection fuel rail bolts (1).
  8. Remove the multiport fuel injection fuel rail ground bolt (2).
  9. Remove the multiport fuel injection fuel rail (3) with the fuel injectors from the intake manifold.
  10. Remove the 4 fuel injector seals.

  11. If removing a single fuel injector perform the following:
    1. Remove the fuel injector retainer (1).
    2. Remove the fuel injectors (2) from the fuel rail (3).
