Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear bracket to the power steering pump.
  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the power steering pump rear bracket mounting nuts and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Position the power steering pump in the vehicle.
  6. Install the power steering pump front mounting bolts 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  7. Install the power steering pump lower and rear nuts and tighten to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).
  8. Uncap the power steering hoses.

  10. Connect the power brake booster inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump through the wheel well and tighten 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  12. Connect the power steering gear outlet hose or the cooler hose to the power steering pump through the wheel well.

  14. Connect the reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump through the wheel well.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (6.6L) , Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (4.3L) , Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L or 6.2L) .
  17. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  18. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  19. Remove the drain pans from under the vehicle.
