Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet extension. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Place a suitable drain pan below the pipes when disconnecting the pipes.
- Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe (1) from the transmission fluid cooler pipes (2). Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement .
- Disconnect the transmission fluid auxiliary cooler outlet rear pipe (1) from the transmission fluid cooler pipes (2). Refer to Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Outlet Rear Pipe Replacement .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front bumper fascia extension. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipe mounting bracket retainer nut (1).
- Remove the starter motor fasteners (1).
- Pull the starter motor (2) away from the engine and support with heavy mechanical wire.
- Remove the engine wiring and battery positive cable conduit fasteners (1).
- Slide the conduit (2) out from below the oil pan.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipes retaining bolt (1).
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipes (2) from the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the transmission fluid cooler pipe seal (3).
CAUTION:
The transmission oil cooler system uses quick connect fittings throughout the system. Use a special tool to disconnect these quick connect fittings. Removing the transmission oil cooler lines without this tool will result in damage to the radiator, the transmission, and the transmission oil cooler caused by mixing the transmission oil and coolant or due to transmission oil loss.
