Front Differential Case Disassemble

Special Tools
- J-22912-B Bearing Remover
- J-8433-1 Puller
- DT-50315 Bolt Kit
- Place the differential case in a vise.
- Install the J-22912-B bearing remover and J-8433-1 puller using the DT-50315 bolt kit
- Remove the differential side bearings.
- Remove the ring gear bolts.
- Remove the ring gear from the differential case.
Drive the ring gear off with a brass drift, if necessary.
- Remove the pinion shaft lock roll pin (1).
- Remove the pinion shaft.
- Remove the differential pinion gears and the differential side gears.
- Mark the pinion gears top and bottom and the differential side gears left and right.
- Roll the differential pinion gears out of the case with the pinion thrust washers.
- Remove the differential side gears and the side gear thrust washers.
CAUTION:
Do not cut the bearing cone from the differential case, it could damage the differential case and require replacement with a new differential case.
CAUTION:
Do not pry the ring gear from the differential case. Prying the ring gear from the differential case may cause damage to the ring gear and/or the differential case.
