Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear compartment floor panel trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Trim Replacement (North America) and Rear Compartment Floor Panel Trim Replacement (Export - CU9, CV5, CZ3, C4E) .
  2. Remove the battery insulator (1) from the top of the battery.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Remove the rear cargo fuse block cover (1).

  5. Remove the positive cable nut and remove the cable from the rear fuse block.
  6. Loosen the battery clamp fastener on the positive battery post.
  7. Release the tabs on the rear cargo fuse block (3) and set aside.
  8. Remove the battery hold down retainer bracket fasteners (1) and remove the battery hold down retainer bracket (2).

  9. Disconnect the battery vent tube (2) from the battery (1).

  10. Remove the battery (1) from the rear cargo area.
