Removal Procedure
- Remove the turn signal switch bracket (1). Refer to Turn Signal Switch Bracket Replacement .
- Remove the front floor console (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Automatic) Front Floor Console Replacement (Manual) .
- Remove the left front floor console extension panel (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the right front floor console extension panel (1). Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Right Side .
- Remove the windshield garnish moldings (1). Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement .
- Remove the left and right instrument panel outer trim cover (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
- Remove the left front floor air outlet duct (2) and disconnect the lower left duct air temperature sensor. Refer to Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the instrument panel ignition lock key transmitter antenna (1). Refer to Ignition Lock Key Transmitter Antenna Replacement - Instrument Panel .
- Remove the radio (2). Refer to Radio Replacement .
- Remove the radio front center speaker (2). Refer to Radio Front Center Speaker Replacement .
- Remove the instrument cluster (2) complete with the steering column upper trim cover and fabric closeout attached. Take caution to ensure the fabric closeout base plate pegs are released prior to removal. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
- Remove the head-up display bezel (1). Refer to Head-Up Display Bezel Replacement .
- Remove the right front floor air outlet duct (3) and disconnect the lower right duct air temperature sensor. Refer to Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side .
- Remove the instrument panel assembly fasteners (1) and (2).
- Pull upwards on the left side window defogger outlet duct and remove.
- Remove the driver side instrument panel lower airbag (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Replacement - Driver Side .
- Remove the instrument panel assembly fasteners (1).
- Disconnect the data link connector.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly fasteners (1).
- Use a suitable tool to remove the instrument panel outer air outlet duct retainer.
- Remove the automatic transmission control lever knob (1). Refer to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement .
- Disconnect the selector lever housing (2) from the base (1) by depressing the four retaining tabs (3). Disconnect any electrical connectors. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Actuator Replacement .
- Remove the instrument panel assembly fasteners (1) and (2).
- Pull upwards on the right side window defogger outlet duct and remove.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly fasteners (1).
- Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module airbag inflatable fasteners (2).
- Remove the electrical connector to the instrument panel inflatable restraint module airbag inflatable.
- Remove the upper right duct air temperature sensor connector.
- Remove the sun load sensor (1). Refer to Sun Load Temperature and Headlamp Automatic Control Ambient Light Sensor Bezel Replacement .
- Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
- Apply tape to the steering column adjustment lever and the surrounding edges of the instrument panel to prevent marring.
- Ensure all instrument panel assembly dowels (side and centre) are released.
- Disconnect the wiring connector to the accessory power receptacle/cigar lighter.
- Loosen and raise the instrument panel assembly (1) to allow access to disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel assembly at the indicated points.
- With the aid of an assistant, raise the instrument panel assembly (1) clear of the gear shifter, over the steering column and then remove from the vehicle.
- Remove the right side instrument panel upper trim panel (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
- When replacing the instrument panel assembly (1), transfer all necessary components.
NOTE:
For vehicles fitted with SMART KEY, ensure the electric steering lock mechanism is UNLOCKED before disabling the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
NOTE:
Upon completing this procedure, leave the steering column in the fully lowered and extended position to aid further procedures.
NOTE:
These screws are longer than all other instrument panel assembly fasteners.
