Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  4. Remove the front lower control front link nut (1).

    DISCARD the nut.

    NOTE:

    Once a load is applied by the ball joint release tool loading bolt, a quick tap on the nut end of the tool will reduce the separating force required.

  6. Use the CH-49405  ball joint tool (2) to separate the front lower control front link (1) from the steering knuckle (3).

  8. Remove the front lower control front link bolt (2).

    DISCARD the bolt.

  9. NOTE:

    Vehicles that have had the caster adjusted previously may NOT be fitted with a fir tree clip and plate with captive nut. These vehicles may be fitted with matching caster control washers instead. Ensure to note the offset hole position for re-installation of the caster control washers before removing them.

  10. Remove the caster control washer (1), fir tree clip (3) and either the plate with captive nut (6) or retaining nut (4) and offset washer (5).

  12. Remove the front lower control front link (1) from the drivetrain and front suspension frame (2).
