Installation Procedure

  1. Position the lower control arm (1) on the vehicle.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the front lower control arm rear bolts (2) and nuts (1) and tighten the bolts to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).

  5. Install the front lower control arm front bushing brackets (2) and the front lower control arm front bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).

    WARNING:

    Ensure that the lower control arm ball joint stud is correctly seated in the steering knuckle. Visually check that the notch in the lower control arm ball joint stud is lined up with the bolt hole in the steering knuckle. Failure to correctly align these components may cause the lower control arm to detach from the knuckle which will result in severe personal injury and damage to the vehicle.

  7. Connect the lower control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle.
  8. Install the steering knuckle bolt (1) and tighten to 63 N.m (46 lb ft).
  9. Install the front, middle and rear pieces of the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Front)Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Middle)Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Rear) .
  10. Install the front compartment air deflector. Refer to Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement .
  11. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
