Installation Procedure

  1. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (1)

    NOTE:

    The recess of the fine toothing in the intermediate steering shaft (2) have to align precisely with the recess of the fine toothing on the steering column (1). The bore in the intermediate steering shaft has to align with the groove on the steering column (3).

  2. Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column.

    NOTE:

    The recess of the intermediate steering shaft (2) has to align precisely with the recess of the steering gear (1). The bore in the intermediate steering shaft has to align with the groove on the steering gear pinion (3)

  3. Connect the steering intermediate shaft to the steering gear.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) and tighten
    1. First pass: 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
    2. Final pass: 180 to 195 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.
  5. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) and tighten 34 N.m (25 lb ft)
