Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower control arm (1) to the cradle.

  2. Install the front lower control arm to cradle rear bolts (1) and nuts (2) and tighten the bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Install the front lower control bushing brackets (2) and front lower control arm to cradle front bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).

  4. Connect the lower control arm ball joint (3) to the steering knuckle

    WARNING: Ensure that the lower control arm ball joint stud is correctly seated in the steering knuckle. Visually check that the notch in the lower control arm ball joint stud is lined up with the bolt hole in the steering knuckle. Failure to correctly align these components may cause the lower control arm to detach from the knuckle which will result in severe personal injury and damage to the vehicle.
  5. Install the front lower control arm ball joint to steering knuckle retaining bolt (1) and nut (2) and tighten the nut to the following tightening specification.
    • First Pass: 55 N.m (41 lb ft)
    • Second Pass: Loosen 120 degrees
    • Third Pass: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
    • Final pass: Plus 30 to 45 degrees
  6. Install the front bumper fascia opening lower cover. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement .
  7. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
