Installation Procedure

  1. GM3707207

    { If equipped }Steering Column Lock Control Module(2) - Install

  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. { If equipped }Bolt(1)@Steering Column Lock Control Module - Install and tighten 3.5 N.m (31 lb in)[2x]
  4. GM3665679

    Steering Column(1) - Install

  5. Hand-tight the NEW 4 steering column nuts (2).

    WARNING:

    In order to ensure the intended function of the steering column in a vehicle during a crash and in order to avoid personal injury to the driver, perform the following:

    • Tighten the steering column lower fasteners before you tighten the steering column upper fasteners. Failure to do this can damage the steering column.
    • Tighten the steering column fasteners to the specified torque. Overtightening the upper steering column fasteners could affect the steering column collapse.
    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Steering Column Nut - Tighten in the sequence shown. 22 N.m (16 lb ft) [4x]

  7. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.

    Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering column.

  9. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt(1) - Install and tighten
    1. First pass: 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
    2. Final pass: 180 - 195 degrees
  10. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side - Install
  11. Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Replacement - Driver Side - Install
  12. Ignition and Start Switch Housing Replacement - Install
  13. Turn Signal Switch Bracket Replacement  - Install
  14. Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement  - Install
  15. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Replacement - Install
  16. Power Steering Control Module Calibration
