Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
- NOTE:
Catalytic converter removed for graphic clarity.
Starter Heat Shield Fastener (2) - Remove [2x]
- Starter Heat Shield (1) - Remove
Battery Positive and Negative Cable Conduit Bolt (2) - Remove
- Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @Starter Solenoid - Remove
- Battery Positive Cable (3) - Remove
Electrical Connector (2) - Disconnect
- Retainer (1) - Disengage
- Electrical Connector Retainer (3) - Disengage
Starter Mounting Bolt (2) - Remove
- Loosen the starter mounting bolt (1) while working the starter (3) away from the engine block.
Rotate the starter (2) and disconnect the electrical connector (1).
