Removal Procedure

NOTE:

Left shown, right similar.

NOTE:

The quarter inner is mild steel. MILD STEEL .

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  3. Remove all related panels and components.
  4. Remove bodyside. Body Side Outer Panel Replacement (SWB) Body Side Outer Panel Replacement (LWB) , or Body Side Outer Panel Sectioning (SWB) Body Side Outer Panel Sectioning (LWB) .
  5. Remove quarter extension sectioning. Quarter Inner Panel Extension Replacement (SWB - Sectioning) Quarter Inner Panel Extension Replacement (SWB - Complete) Quarter Inner Panel Extension Replacement (LWB - Sectioning) Quarter Inner Panel Extension Replacement (LWB - Complete) .
  6. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

  7. NOTE:

    Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.

  8. Remove spot welds (1). [3x]

  9. NOTE:

    The service part is supplied as a complete quarter inner and will need to be cut at the proper location for sectioning. The service part will overlap the original quarter inner by approximately 25 mm (1 in).

  10. Measure and mark on the quarter inner wheelhouse 25 mm (1 in) from the radius (1) onto the flat surface (2).

  11. NOTE:

    Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.

    NOTE:

    All cuts are square to surface.

  12. Cut the quarter inner wheelhouse at the marked location (1).

  13. Remove quarter inner (1) from the vehicle.
