Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Temporarily install the rail reinforcement for proper fit.

  1. Position rail reinforcement (1) to vehicle using 3-dimensional measuring equipment.

  2. NOTE:

    Use 6.7 mm (17/64") holes for rivet installation.

  3. Drill 6.7 mm (17/64") hole (1) on rail reinforcement and vehicle for rivet installation. [5x]

  4. Remove the rail reinforcement (1) from the vehicle.

  5. NOTE:

    Only remove E-coat where adhesive will be applied.

  6. Clean and prepare rail reinforcement and vehicle for adhesive according to adhesive manufacturer's recommendations. METAL PANEL BONDING
  7. Apply structural adhesive (1) on the mating surfaces of rail reinforcement and vehicle according to adhesive manufacturer's recommendations. METAL PANEL BONDING

  8. Install rail reinforcement (1) to vehicle and clamp into place.

  9. Install rivets (1) in rail reinforcement. [SR2 5x] Fastener Specifications
  10. Install front compartment upper side rail. Front Compartment Upper Side Rail Replacement 
  11. Install front wheelhouse panel reinforcement. Front Wheelhouse Panel Reinforcement Replacement 
  12. Install front fender bracket. Front Fender Bracket Replacement 
  13. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
  14. NOTE:

    Before refinishing, refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

  15. Paint the repaired area. Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems .
  16. Install all related panels and components.
  17. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  18. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling .
