Removal Procedure

NOTE:

NOTE:
The rear end outer panel is High Strength Low Alloy Steel. HIGH STRENGTH LOW ALLOY STEEL .
NOTE:
Refer to Collision Repair Specifications
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
- Remove all related panels and components.
- Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
- Remove spot welds (1). [20X]
- Drill 8 mm (5/16") hole to remove all spot welds (1). [8X]
- Using a die grinder with a cut off wheel or equivalent tool cut a slot (1) on the side of rear end panel.
- Lift quarter panel flange as needed for accessing the rear end outer panel (1).
- Remove spot welds (1). [5X]
- Drill 8 mm (5/16") hole to remove all spot welds (1). [4X]
- Drill 8 mm (5/16") hole to remove all spot welds (1). [5X]
- Remove spot welds (1). [3X]
- Apply heat to shaded area (1) to release adhesive.
- Remove rear end outer panel (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove remaining adhesive from vehicle.
NOTE:
Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.
NOTE:
The 8 mm (5/16") holes will be used for MIG/MAG welds.
