Removal Procedure

WARNING:

NOTE:

Left shown, right similar.

NOTE:

The rear end outer panel is High Strength Low Alloy Steel. HIGH STRENGTH LOW ALLOY STEEL .

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  3. Remove all related panels and components.
  4. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

  5. NOTE:

    Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.

  6. Remove spot welds (1). [20X]

  7. NOTE:

    The 8 mm (5/16") holes will be used for MIG/MAG welds.

  8. Drill 8 mm (5/16") hole to remove all spot welds (1). [8X]

  9. NOTE:

    Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.

  10. Using a die grinder with a cut off wheel or equivalent tool cut a slot (1) on the side of rear end panel.

  11. Lift quarter panel flange as needed for accessing the rear end outer panel (1).

  12. NOTE:

    Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements.

  13. Remove spot welds (1). [5X]

  14. NOTE:

  20. Apply heat to shaded area (1) to release adhesive.

  21. Remove rear end outer panel (1) from the vehicle.
  22. Remove remaining adhesive from vehicle.
