Disassembly Procedure
- WARNING:
To prevent personal injury and/or component damage, use the proper tools to support and compress the coil spring prior to removal of the strut shaft nut when removing the coil spring. The coil spring is under extreme pressure and can become a projectile should the spring separate from the strut before all of the tension is relieved.
Place and center the front suspension strut (2) into the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1).
- Position the front suspension strut (2) so the front suspension strut seat rests on the three lower arms of the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor with the front stabilizer link bracket facing outward.
- Position the upper arms of the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1) evenly on the front coil spring.
- Using the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1), compress the front coil spring enough to remove tension from the front strut mount.
Using the CH-50732-A Strut Nut Wrench (1), loosen the front strut rod mount nut.
Front Strut Rod Mount Nut (1) - Remove
Release the tension on the front suspension strut (2) and remove all the components from the CH-45400-B Strut Spring Compressor (1).
Front Suspension Strut (4) - Remove
- Front Coil Spring Lower Insulator (3) - Remove
- Front Coil Spring (2) - Remove
- Front Coil Spring Insulator (1) - Remove
Front Strut Boot (3) - Remove
- Front Suspension Strut Bumper (2) - Remove
- Front Suspension Mount Lower Cup (1) - Remove
- NOTE:
The front suspension strut mount washer (2) is oriented with the conical side up.
Separate the front strut mount (1), front suspension strut mount washer (2) and front spring upper seat (3).
- Inspect the components and replace as necessary.
