Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates and releases the rear compartment lid while pressing the trunk release button twice on the remote keyless entry transmitter.
    • If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch does not activate 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 1

    • Go to next step: If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates 
  3. Verify the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates and releases the rear compartment lid while pressing the S58A Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Switch - Exterior at the E7 Rear License Plate Lamp.
    • If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch does not activate 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2

    • Go to next step: If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates 
  4. Verify the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates and releases the rear compartment lid while pressing the S58B Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch - Interior.
    • If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch does not activate 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 3

    • Go to next step: If the M40 Rear Compartment Lid Latch activates 
  5. A fault is not currently present and may be an intermittent condition
