Torquing Threaded Fasteners with Universal Joints

The amount of torque applied by a torque wrench to a threaded fastener is decreased as the angle of a universal joint increases.
Torque loss is minimal and acceptable if each of these guidelines are met:
- Universal joint is either ball and socket or cardan style.
- Universal joint is lubricated.
- Universal joint angle is kept less than 20 degrees.
Wobble extensions should NOT be used for torqueing.
