Installation Procedure

    Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger (2) - Install

  2. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Seal (3) - Install NEW

  6. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) - Install
  7. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Install

  9. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Seal (3) - Install NEW

  11. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Install
  12. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  14. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Outlet Hose Clamp- Left Side (1) - Install [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Battery Tray (2) - Install

  18. Install the retainers.
  19. Battery Tray Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Battery Cover (1) - Install

    Battery Hold Down Retainer (2) - Install

  23. Battery Hold Down Retainer Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Battery Hold Down Retainer (3) - Install

  25. Install the electrical connector (2).

    Engine Control Module Bracket (2) - Install

  28. Battery Hold Down Retainer Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the wiring harness retainers as necessary.

  30. Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose Clip (1, 2) - Install [2x]

    Engine Control Module (2) - Install

  32. Connect the electrical connectors. (1)

    Battery Distribution Engine Compartment Fuse Block (5) - Install

  34. Connect the electrical connector.
  35. Install wiring harness terminals.
  36. Battery Negative Post Clamp Nut (4) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  37. Battery Positive Cable Junction Block Nut (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  38. Engine Wiring Harness Fuse Block Nut (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Power Distributor Fuse Block Cover (1) - Install

    Connect the battery monitor module electrical connector (3).

  41. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  42. Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
  43. Check the transmission fluid level. Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
  44. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
