Installation Procedure
Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger (2) - Install
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
- Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
- NOTE:

Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Seal (3) - Install NEW
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) - Install
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Install
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- NOTE:
Some components not shown for graphic clarity.
Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Seal (3) - Install NEW
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Install
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Outlet Hose (2) @ Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger - Install
- Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Outlet Hose Clamp- Left Side (1) - Install [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Inlet Hose (2) @ Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger - Install
- Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Inlet Hose Clamp (1) - Install - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Battery Tray (2) - Install
- Install the retainers.
- Battery Tray Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Battery Cover (1) - Install
Battery (1) - Install
Battery Hold Down Retainer (2) - Install
- Battery Hold Down Retainer Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Battery Hold Down Retainer (3) - Install
- Install the electrical connector (2).
- Battery Hold Down Retainer Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Engine Control Module Bracket (2) - Install
- Battery Hold Down Retainer Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
Connect the wiring harness retainers as necessary.
- Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose Clip (1, 2) - Install [2x]
Engine Control Module (2) - Install
- Connect the electrical connectors. (1)
Battery Distribution Engine Compartment Fuse Block (5) - Install
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install wiring harness terminals.
- Battery Negative Post Clamp Nut (4) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Battery Positive Cable Junction Block Nut (3) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
- Engine Wiring Harness Fuse Block Nut (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
Power Distributor Fuse Block Cover (1) - Install
Connect the battery monitor module electrical connector (3).
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
- Check the transmission fluid level. Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
- Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
