Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief 
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Fuel Tank Draining 
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    Exhaust Hanger Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  6. Exhaust Muffler (2) @ Exhaust Insulator (3) - Separate

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Insulator-Left Side (2) - Separate

  8. Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Insulator-Right Side (3) - Separate

    Exhaust Muffler (1) - Remove

  10. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side (1) - Remove - Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

    Release the retaining tab to separate the evaporative emission canister air inlet hose.

  13. Evaporative Emission Canister Air Inlet Hose (1) @ Rear Wheelhouse Panel Bracket (2) - Separate

    Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner - Left Side (1) - Remove - Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

  17. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

    Fuel Tank Filler Hose Clamp (1) @ Fuel Tank Filler Hose - Loosen

  21. Fuel Tank Filler Hose (2) @ Fuel Tank - Disconnect
  22. Evaporative Emission Intermediate Pipe (3) @ Fuel Tank Filler Pipe - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Fuel Feed Pipe-Fuel Tank (1) @ Fuel Feed Pipe - Underbody - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 

  24. Evaporative Emission Pipe-Fuel Tank (2) @ Evaporative Emission Pipe-Underbody - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Place a suitable adjustable jack under the fuel tank.

  26. Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
  27. Fuel Tank Strap (2) - Remove [2x]

    Fuel Tank (1) - Remove

  29. With assistance, move fuel tank to bench.

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect [2x]

  31. Quick Connect Fitting (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  32. Fuel Feed Pipe (3) @ Retainer (4) - Remove [2x]

    Fuel Sender Retainer (1) @ Fuel Tank - Remove

    Use the CH-45747  fuel sender lock ring wrench (2) to remove the fuel sender retainer.

    Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module (1) @ Fuel Tank - Remove

  35. Fuel Pump Seal (2) @ Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module - Remove and DISCARD

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

  37. Release the retaining tabs.
  38. Fuel Level Sensor (2) - Remove
