Steering Column - Raider: Disassembly
- Remove steering wheel and combination switch. Remove bolt from steering shaft "C" joint assembly. Remove return springs, clevis pin, and bolts and bushings from steering column "A". See Fig 1.
- Remove snap ring, stopper and spacer from steering shaft "A". Using ignition key, unlock steering wheel. Remove steering shaft "A". Remove dust seal, bushing and steering column "A".
- To remove steering lock, cut a slot in retaining screws with hacksaw. Using a screwdriver, remove screws. Remove steering lock. Remove dust cover. Remove column tube clamp and steering column "B".
- Remove column bushing, column tube and steering shaft "B". Remove snap ring from steering shaft "B". Remove clip and bearing from column tube.
- To remove mounting plate, cut a slot in retaining screws with hacksaw. Using a screwdriver, remove screws and remove mounting plate. Remove nut plate from steering column "B".
- Remove snap pin, lever assembly and snap ring. Remove plate assembly. Remove lower and upper boots and dust cover from steering shaft "D". Remove spring and separate steering shaft "C" and steering shaft "D".
