Anti-Theft System: Description
The Chrysler Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) consists of an anti-theft control module, Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) indicator light ("SET" on instrument panel) and the necessary circuitry to integrate the parking lights, taillights, horn, hood switch, door switch and all lock switches into the system. The system is activated by securing the vehicle with the power door lock switch when exiting.
The VTSS is a 2-part theft deterrent system. Primarily, the horn, parking and taillight are used to deter forced entry. Additionally, an engine-start disable system operates when a method other than the proper ignition key is used to start engine. System checks and diagnostics are used for evaluation of the theft deterrent system. See Fig 1 .
