Steering Gear - Power: Description

A rotary valve in the pinion assembly directs fluid to either side of the integral rack piston. Tie rods connect the steering gear (rack and pinion) to the steering knuckles. Loosely fitted pinion drive-tangs will provide manual steering control in the event of a system malfunction. Steering wheel movement is transmitted by the shaft to the pinion through 2 universal joint couplings. The steering gear rack and pinion assembly converts rotational movement of the pinion to transverse movement of the rack.
