Test 22A - Elect Instrument Cluster Or Electronic Visual

INFORMATION CENTER (EVIC) ILLUMINATION TEST

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Move headlight switch rheostat to center position. Ensure parking lights are off. Using DRB-II, read step up status. If DRB-II displays STEP UP: OFF, go to TEST 22B. If DRB-II does not display STEP UP: OFF, turn parking lights on. If DRB-II does not display, STEP UP: OFF, turn parking lights off and go to TEST 22E  .
  2. If DRB-II displays STEP UP: OFF, read panel light sensor voltage using DRB-II. While observing DRB-II, rotate headlight switch from right to left. If voltage changes from zero to 12 volts, go to TEST 22D  .
  3. If voltage does not change from zero to 12 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 5 from fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to TEST 22C  . If fuse is blown, replace fuse. Turn parking lights on and off. Inspect fuse No. 5. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If fuse is okay, test is complete. Verify customer's complaint. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
