Test 28C - Missing Brake Lamp Out Message

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect light outage module 5-pin connector. See Figure . Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) of light outage module 5-pin connector. Start engine. If Electronic Vehicle Instrument Center (EVIC) displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If EVIC did not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) of light outage module 5-pin connector and ground. Start engine. If EVIC displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  3. If EVIC did not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, turn ignition off. Reconnect light outage module 5-pin connector. Access Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right side kick panel.
  4. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 15 (Light Blue/Black wire) of BCM Red connector and ground. DO NOT  disconnect BCM Red connector.
  5. Start engine. If EVIC displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, repair open Light Blue/Black wire between BCM and light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If EVIC does not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, turn ignition off.
  6. Disconnect both BCM connectors. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If connector condition is okay, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
