Test 47B - Key In Ignition

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Ensure driver's door is open. Remove key from ignition switch. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, go to TEST 42A  . If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, disconnect key-in ignition connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  2. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace key in ignition switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  3. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) of BCM Black connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
