Test 8G - Short To 5 Volts
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- If vehicle is an AC or AY body, go to step 4). If vehicle is not an AC or AY body, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 1, left front door ajar sense circuit (Tan wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Tan wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 1, left front door ajar sense circuit (Tan wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Tan wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 2, key-in ignition switch input circuit (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Light Blue wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 2, key-in ignition switch input circuit (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Light Blue wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 14, seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Light Green/Red wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 14, seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Light Green/Red wires. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM case and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminal No. 19, signal ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire), and ground.
- If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
