Test 6A - Repairing Instrument Cluster Temperature Gauge
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Ensure engine cooling system is operating properly. Repair as necessary. If engine cooling system is okay, go to next step.
- Using DRB, select engine controller. If DRB does not display ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to TEST 56A . If DRB displays ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) faults. If DRB displays ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, proceed to appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, go to next step.
- If DRB displays ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW, replace PCM. PCM is located under air cleaner.
