Test 13A - Faulty Fasten Seat Belt Message
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Ensure left front seat belt is fastened. Using DRB, read seat belt switch status. If DRB displays SEAT BELT : OPEN, go to step 4). If DRB does not display SEAT BELT : OPEN, go to next step.
- Disconnect seat belt switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If DRB displays SEAT BELT : OPEN, replace seat belt switch. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT : OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at BCM Black connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Red wire between BCM Black connector and seat belt switch connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- If DRB displays SEAT BELT : OPEN in step 1), unfasten left front seat belt. If DRB displays SEAT BELT : CLOSED, verify customer's complaint and retest system. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT : CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect seat belt switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and terminal No. 2 (Black/Orange wire). If DRB displays SEAT BELT : CLOSED, replace seat belt switch. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT : CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If DRB displays SEAT BELT : CLOSED, repair open in Black/Orange wire between seat belt switch connector and ground. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT : CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to BCM. With connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Black connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If DRB displays SEATBELT : CLOSED, repair open Light Green/Red wire between BCM Black connector and seat belt switch. If DRB does not display SEATBELT : CLOSED, replace BCM.
