Test 33A - Electronic Instrument Cluster Trouble Codes
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR
IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Observe DRB screen for trouble codes. Read and note trouble codes displayed. Perform corresponding procedure(s)/test indicated in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TROUBLE CODES table.INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TROUBLE CODES
Trouble Code Test Display Driver Failure 10 (1) Microcomputer Internal Failure 20 (1) No Bus Activity 01 70A No Body Computer Message 02 69A No Engine Controller Message 04 (2) Bus Loop Message Failure 08 (1) Power Supply Short Circuit 40 (1) Body Computer Odometer Failure 80 (3) (1) Replace instrument cluster. (2) Continue TEST 33A, proceed to step 2). (3) Replace body control module. - Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect instrument cluster and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located between data link connector and battery on fenderwell.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance on CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) Blue connector terminal No. 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance on CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and EIC Blue connector terminal No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
