Test 71A - EVIC Panel No Response
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR
IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect EVIC panel connector. EVIC is located in center dash section below radio. Using an external ohmmeter, with DRB connected to Data Link Connector (DLC), check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between EVIC panel connector terminal No. 2 and DLC connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance of White/Black wire between EVIC panel connector terminal No. 1 and DLC connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Ensure courtesy lamps are off. Close all doors and wait one minute. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at EVIC panel connector terminal No. 6 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at EVIC panel connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace EVIC panel. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 26. See Figure . If fuse is open, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Measure voltage at fuse No. 26 Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire between fuse panel and EVIC panel. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Gain access to power distribution center. Power distribution center is located in front of left strut tower. Inspect IOD 20-amp fuse. See Figure . If fuse is open, go to step 9). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Remove IOD fuse. Measure voltage at power distribution center IOD 20-amp fuse (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair power distribution center. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Red wire between power distribution center and fuse panel.
- Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at power distribution center, IOD 20-amp fuse (Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red wire and replace fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse.
