Repairing Blank Scan Tool Screen
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see wiring diagram.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect scan tool from Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) data link connector. Inspect, clean and repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If connector is okay, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance between chassis ground and CCD data link connector terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/Violet wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black or Black/Violet wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between CCD data link connector terminal No. 9 (Pink wire) and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/Violet wire). If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Try a different scan tool cable. If scan tool screen is no longer blank, replace defective scan tool cable. Perform TEST 1A. If scan tool screen is still blank, replace defective scan tool.
