Intermittent Wheel Speed Sensor Circuits

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see wiring diagram.
NOTE: Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) malfunction trouble code will also be stored. After completion of this test, perform TEST 20A.
  1. Inspect each Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) connector for damage or looseness. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS connections are okay, go to next step.
  2. Ensure WSS connectors have proper clearance from moving objects. Inspect for evidence of chafing on WSS wiring harness. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS connectors are okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 60-pin connector. Inspect, clean and repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If connector is okay, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of CAB connector terminals of each WSS while assistant wiggles wiring harness. See Figure. If resistance is more than 2500 ohms at any time, repair open in appropriate wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is not more than 2500 ohms at any time, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1A.
