Pump/Motor Circuits

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see wiring diagram.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect relay box 10-pin connector. Inspect, clean and repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate pump/motor. Using test light connected to battery power, probe relay box 10-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Gray/Light Blue wire). If test light is not flashing, go to step 6). If test light is flashing, go to next step.
  2. Stop actuator test. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of relay box 10-pin connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on relay box 10-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Dark Green wire). If reading is more than 10 volts, replace relay box. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Inspect ABS fuse located in Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Fig 1. If fuse is okay, repair open in Red/Dark Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of relay box 10-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Green wire. Replace ABS fuse. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace HCU. Replace ABS fuse. Perform TEST VER-1A.
  6. If test light is not flashing in step 1), turn ignition off. Reconnect relay box 10-pin connector. Disconnect CAB 60-pin connector. Inspect, clean and repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If connector is okay, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance between chassis ground and CAB connector terminal No. 16 (Gray/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 70 ohms, repair open in Gray/Light Blue or Gray wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 70 ohms, go to TEST 20A.
