Instrument Cluster Test 13A - High Beam Indicator Light

NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 4A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Turn headlights high beam on. If headlights high beam come on, go to next step. If headlights high beam do not come on, see HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS under ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Using scan tool, read high beam sense. If high beam sense is ON, go to next step. If high beam sense is not ON, go to step 5).
  3. Turn ignition to UNLOCK position. Using scan tool, actuate ALL LAMPS. If high beam indicator light comes on, system is operating properly. If high beam indicator light does not come on, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect instrument cluster and ensure connectors are clean and not damaged. See Figure in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 8A. Remove and inspect high beam indicator bulb. If bulb is defective, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, repair or replace instrument cluster.
  5. Turn headlights and ignition off. Disconnect BCM from junction block. Turn headlights high beam on. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM/junction block 12-pin connector terminal No. 1. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
