Test 32F - Dimming Interior Displays
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Turn park lamps on. Move dimmer control lever to high illumination position. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage on BCM Natural connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is less than 3 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is more than 3 volts, go to next step.
- Gain access to left pod switch assembly. See Figure. Disconnect left pod switch connector and BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using an external ohmmeter. check resistance of Orange/Black wire between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 10 and left pod switch connector terminal No. 9. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and left pod switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch.
