Test 32H - Dimming Interior Displays

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Natural connector terminal No. 8 (Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 3). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Backprobe BCM Natural connector terminal No. 22 (Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Orange wire between BCM Natural connector and dimmer switch connector for short to ground and replace fuse No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 8. See Figure.
  3. Disconnect BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Check resistance of BCM Natural connector terminal No. 8 (Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Brown wire between BCM Natural connector and fuse No. 8 for short to ground, and replace fuse No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and fuse No. 8.
