Fuel Level Switch & Thermistor Test

  1. Using 12-volt test light with a 3.4-watt bulb, connect positive battery terminal to fuel gauge sending unit connector. See Fig 1 -Fig 3 . Use jumper wire to ground fuel gauge sending unit connector to battery.
  2. Put sending unit in container of water so thermistor or fuel level switch is submerged. See Fig 3 . If test light does not come on, thermistor or fuel level switch is okay. If test light comes on, replace sending unit.
CAUTION: After completing fuel level switch test, wipe or blow sending unit dry before installing into fuel tank.
